About This Dog for Adoption

Heidi's ideal home

Heidi is a sweet, sensitive young girl looking for a home that has the time and patience to allow her confidence to blossom. She is looking for a home in a quiet area which doesn’t get lots of noise from traffic and people to give her time to settle in as she can be unsure of loud sounds. Adopters who take on this little lady will need to be committed to regularly brushing her to keep her coat in a good condition. Heidi can live with children aged 14 and over who are calm and will respect her space. As a young dog, she can be unsure of noise and may take herself away when it all becomes too much, which all members of the family should respect. She could live with another dog that enjoys gentle play, but not one that would want rougher play or that wouldn’t allow her to have space when she needs a break. Equally, Heidi would also be able to live alone but have doggy walking friends to continue building her confidence. She cannot live with cats or small furries. Unfortunately, Heidi has not yet had masses of training at her young age and therefore would benefit from learning all her basic skills as well as the fun stuff. This will help her build her confidence and bond with her new family. She will need housetraining in her new home so access to a private, secure garden is needed. Once settled into her new home, Heidi may be able to be left for 1-2 hours at a time, but this should be introduced slowly once she has had time to get used to her new family and surroundings.
Heidi will need to meet her adopters' multiple times with the potential for home visits prior to being adopted so please bear this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come to the centre to meet her within 48hrs of being shortlisted.

Could you be Heidi's perfect match?

Once Heidi knows you, this cheeky mini Border Collie Cross is super sweet and affectionate. At only 7 months old, this busy little lady has a lot of love to give to a home willing to give her time and patience to settle. She loves a treat and takes them gently from you, and whilst she hasn’t yet learnt that toys = fun, she does chase after them. If you can give the time and patience to give Heidi the love and home she deserves, please let us know.

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Border Collie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
