About This Dog for Adoption
Mist's ideal home
Mist is looking for a new home in a quiet location that can help bring out this young boy's confidence and help him shine. He needs a patient family who understand it may take some time to get this lad to come out of his shell but when he does, he rewards you by showing you his cheeky side! Ideally, his family will have experienced the collie breed.
Mist can live with children aged 16 and over who will respect his space and give him time to settle. His family should understand that this sensitive soul can be worried by loud noises and to keep his environment as calm as possible to set him up for success. He can and would benefit from living with another dog who could help build his confidence in the home. He could also have walking buddies to accompany him out and about.
Unfortunately, Mist has not yet had masses of training at his age and therefore would benefit from learning all his basic skills to build his confidence in the home, out and about and with his new family. A little shy, the yummiest of treats (such as cheese!) will be best to help encourage this lad in training. He will need housetraining in his new home so access to a private, secure garden is needed.
Once settled into his new home and family life, Mist could be left for up to 4 hours at a time, but this should be built up gradually once Mist has gained confidence in his new surroundings and routine.
Mist will need to meet his adopters multiple times prior to going home to build a strong bond, he will also need visits from our behaviour team once he goes home so adopters will need to live within an hour of driving distance from the Canterbury Rehoming Centre so please bear this in mind prior to applying for him.
Could you be Mist's perfect match?
Mist, the 1-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie is a sweet little lad that is slowly learning about the world. He likes a treat and chew when placed on the floor but hasn’t yet shown interest in any toys. Mist likes to explore the world at his own pace and take things slowly. Could you be the family to show him the world and help him shine?
