About This Dog for Adoption

Sophie's ideal home

Meet Sophie and Calcifer! They are 3-month-old Collie siblings looking for their forever homes. Sophie and Calcifer can live with another settled dog after successful meets here at the Rehoming Centre. They are looking for adult only homes, or homes with older secondary school children who understand that they can me a little more nervous than other dogs. Sophie and Calcifer will grow up to be very intelligent, active dogs, so they will need adopters that will keep their minds busy through enriching walks, games and toys. They will both need all aspects of regular puppy training and will be enrolled into our amazing Dog School classes to set them off on the right paw in training and socialisation. It would be fantastic if Sophie and Calcifer’s adopters are able to be at home with them during the day until they get settled into their new environment and routine. After this, leaving time will be able to be gradually built up.

Sophie (tricolour) is a little less confident than her brother Calcifer (black and white) but they have both come a long way from the fearful little puppies that arrived with us! They are both super snuggly, and their individual personalities are starting to shine. Sophie is sweet as can be, and loves to watch the world around her, whereas Calcifer likes to investigate all the new things around him with his nose. They both love playtime, and they are showing just how clever they are with their enrichment puzzles! With plenty of patience and love, as well as dedication to training and socialisation, these two will make the most wonderful companions. Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Border Collie Owners website
Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images
