About This Dog for Adoption

Charlie's ideal home

Charlie is a super affectionate and intelligent boy who loves nothing more than going for walks or playing tug with his favourite humans. He really enjoys a fuss and is always happy to chill on the sofa. He enjoys the company of other calm dogs and could live happily with a canine pal after successful meets, but a dog pal is not essential. He would appreciate a home where someone will be about most of the day, once he has built confidence in his new home leaving time can be gradually increased. Charlie could live with secondary school aged children. He would love to find a home with a secure garden where he can zoom around and have fun. Charlie is patiently waiting to find a family of his own, he came into our care along with Maisie and Archie (who are both also available) and could be rehomed with either of them if there was a suitable applicant.

Could you be Charlie's perfect match?

Charlie may be a senior boy but don't let age fool you he is still active and keen to be involved in activities. He would appreciate a understanding owner who can help build his confidence with car travel so he can be part of more adventures. Charlie is superfood orientated which will help with his training and build the skills needed in a positive way. If you feel you have the space in your home for Charlie please fill out an application or call into the Ballymena Rehoming Centre during opening hours to discuss further.

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Border Collie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
