About This Dog for Adoption

Eddie's ideal home

Eddie is a playful 1yr old Collie who enjoys getting out and about. He has a good history around children but does have a few worries with some handling. For this reason he’s not going to want to live with very young children, but those of secondary school age will be fine. Eddie can live with dogs provided they get on well during a mix in centre before adoption. He does chase cats though, so is best not living with them. Eddie finds traffic quite worrying and will need his walks to be away from roads. Fortunately he’s got a good history of car travel so can always travel to quieter routes.

Could you be Eddie's perfect match?

Eddie is a fantastic young lad just bursting with potential. His home history is good, being both fully housetrained and happy to travel on the back seat of the car. He’d love any time left alone to be reintroduced once he’s settled as he struggled when left for long periods. An hour or so should be ok though. Eddie loves his teddies and soft toys, and will want his new family to be available for play. He’ll benefit from enrichment to keep his mind busy as well as an active family able to keep up with a young Collie!

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Border Collie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
