About This Dog for Adoption

Lady's ideal home

Lady is a 4 year old Border Collie looking for a home where she can be the only pet. She could live with children of Secondary School age who are sensible and can appreciate her nervous nature. She will need her own secure, private garden so she has a safe space for toileting and play as due to her nervous nature we would advise she is kept on lead in public as she has the potential to bolt if scared. Her ideal location would be somewhere fairly rural with access to quiet walks without having to pass through busy streets or town centres that may worry her.

Could you be Lady's perfect match?

Lady is a sweet girl who can be worried at times, and can be worried meeting new people so she may need to meet her new family a few times before she is comfortable enough to go to her new home. Once she knows you, she enjoys a cuddle and a gentle fuss. She has been friendly with other dogs at the centre but can be a bit over the top in her interactions and play style and does not always pick up on the other dog's body language so is best suited to being the only dog in the home. Lady is used to travelling in a car and would love to go on lots of interesting walks and adventures.

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Border Collie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
