About This Dog for Adoption

Skittles's ideal home

Skittles is approx. 1 yr. 2mths old and a collie x who can live in a home with another with dog and children 14+. This cheeky little girl has lots of love to give. Skittles can be a little uncomfortable in certain situations so being in a calm home with very few visitors, to allow her to come out of her shell. She is not fully housetrained, so the odd accident may happen whilst settling in with her new family. Due to having limited history skittles, will need to have any leaving hours built up slowly.

Could you be Skittles's perfect match?

Skittles loves to be out and about exploring and is always up for a new adventure, and any car training will need to be ongoing. Treats are away to this this little girls heart, and an advantage to any ongoing training needs. An enrichments toy such as, a snuffle mat etc will help with building any leaving hours up slowly. Another dog in the home would be beneficial for Skittles to help her build up confidence and be the best dog she can be ( a dog mix at the Basildon rehoming centre would be needed and if male would need to be neutered). This little lass has so much love to give her new family , please click 'Apply to Adopt' and add Skittles to your favourites to see if you are a suitable match.

Border Collie Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Border Collie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
