About This Dog for Adoption

Skye's ideal home

Skye is a lovely 2-year-7-month-old Border Collie cross who’s full of charm, confidence and that classic collie brightness. She’s been friendly and relaxed in foster care, happily greeting everyone she meets and she’s just as comfortable out and about too, taking attention from strangers in her stride. Skye is well suited to living with older primary school-aged children who can enjoy her fun, affectionate nature. One of her most endearing habits is bringing her ball over and dropping it right at your feet to politely-but-persistently request a game.
Skye enjoys her walks best when they come with plenty of sniffing opportunities, as she does like to stop and investigate the world. In the garden she’s in her element: ball games, pottering about, and then a well-earned sunbathe. At home, she’s also able to switch off nicely; if no one is playing, she’ll happily lie down and relax. She’s clean in the house, toilets happily in the garden, and she travels brilliantly too.
Skye is still learning a few small confidence pieces. She can be a little wary of being approached head-on for fuss and may shift back, but she’s fine with handling when people come in gently and side-on. She’s also a bit sensitive around busy, noisy traffic and may pull away from the road if something startles her, so she’d benefit from a home that’s happy to build her confidence with calm, positive exposure.
Skye can share her home with a calm, friendly dog following sensible introductions, and she’ll need a fully enclosed garden where she can play… and, just as importantly, stretch out and enjoy her favourite pastime: sunbathing. Skye will thrive with people who want an engaged, affectionate companion: someone who’ll play, potter, walk and then enjoy those calm moments together once she’s had her fill of ball time. AWE licence number 13090 by West Lothian Council.
