About This Dog for Adoption
Keiko's ideal home
Keiko is a 2-year-old Crossbreed with a heart full of love and a nose that never stops sniffing! This clever little chap is looking for a home that understands terrier traits – especially his love for exploring the world with his snout. He would love someone who can keep him mentally enriched through scent-based games, training, and plenty of opportunity to explore.
Keiko can live with children, including those under five. He could also live alongside another friendly dog, although this is not essential. He is not a fan of cats, so a feline-free home is a must. Once settled, Keiko is content to be left for a couple of hours, but his new family should help him adjust gradually to any time alone.
Could you be Keiko's perfect match?
If you are after a happy, curious little explorer with a zest for life and a love of food and fuss, Keiko could be just the dog for you. He is an affectionate, playful lad who gets on well with people of all ages and is confident around visitors and strangers alike. He is especially fond of his toys and will happily entertain himself with play and snuffling if left to his own devices.
Keiko enjoys other dogs’ company too, though he likes a polite introduction and a moment to warm up before fully joining in the fun. Once he knows them, he plays beautifully. He travels well in the car, knows his basic commands, and is happy to be handled. While he is not fully housetrained overnight, he will hold on well during the day for up to five or six hours.
This cheerful lad is as comfortable out on lead walks as he is sniffing around a garden or new environment, and would really thrive in a home where his curiosity is encouraged. He will bring plenty of joy, energy, and companionship to a family who can keep him engaged and offer him a variety of fun things to do.
This dog is currently being rehomed under our Home Stay scheme. Under this scheme, the dog stays with their current owner until the point of adoption, when the ownership transfers briefly to Dogs Trust and then to the new adopters. The benefits of Home Stay for a dog are that it minimises disruption and prevents the dog having to come into kennels, however there is the potential the owner may pull out of the scheme prior to adoption. We understand the upset this may cause to potential adopters, and we work closely with the owners to minimised the likelihood of this. However, it remains a possibility, and should this occur, Dogs Trust will prioritise finding adopters an alternative dog.
