About This Dog for Adoption

Soay's ideal home

Soay can live with teenagers but needs to be the only pet. We have no history for her and cannot guarantee that she is house trained or used to spending any time alone.

Could you be Soay's perfect match?

It's pronounced "soy"! This gorgeous little girl may be the tiniest Collie we've ever had, barley standing halfway up the average shin. It's hard to know her full size as she's a very worried girl when she's out on a walk and spends a lot of time crawling on her belly. Sven year old Soay is friendly and curious, but her fear always gets the better of her and she shows lots of appeasement behaviours such as rolling on her belly when meeting people. These aren't behaviours we want to encourage, we'd rather build her confidence and help her feel happier about life, but any potential adopters should research and understand what these behaviours signify in a dog. Soay should always be given time to explore any new environments. She has been friendly towards other dogs but has a very strong desire to herd them, and again shows the appeasement behaviours. We would advise that she should be the only pet at home whilst she finds her paws in her new life, but some very calm and non confrontational friends would be nice for walkies. Soay doesn't seem to be used to car travel and her family may have some work to do in building up a positive association with vehicles.
