About This Dog for Adoption
Patrick's ideal home
Patrick is an endearing, eight-year-old Border Collie, with a gentle nature. This sweet chap is lacking in a little confidence, so he’s hopeful to find a home with calm and patient adopters, who could allow him to adjust to his new surroundings and build confidence at his own pace. Having entered our care as a stray, we have limited information on his background, but our training team have been getting to know him to learn what would make for his ideal home. Due to his nervous side and slight noise sensitivity, calmer, older secondary-school aged children who know when to give him some space would be better suited for Patrick. When it comes to meeting other dogs, Patrick seems to lack in confidence at times but warms up if introduced calmly and may initiate play. He will need to be the only pet at home but could have well-suited walking buddies. His dream home would be somewhere quiet and peaceful, situated away from the hustle and bustle of town centres or busy roads, where he could enjoy a garden of his own to relax in and work on his housetraining.
Could you be Patrick's perfect match?
Patrick is a pooch who loves life’s simple pleasures: a cosy bed to rest on, exploring new places with his nose to the ground, spending time with his people pals, and tucking into a tasty meal. Food is a big love of his, and he looks forward to his dinner, eating out of fun, easy enrichment puzzles, or when gnawing down on a tasty chew. He prefers to eat in peace, so would like an undisturbed area to enjoy his favourite thing. He does like a gentle fuss from his well-known humans, and his affectionate side may develop as he builds trust. However, he prefers a ‘hands-off’ approach to building a friendship and he gives clear signals with his body language if he’s feeling overwhelmed, so his potential adopters should be mindful of this.
