About This Dog for Adoption

Poppy's ideal home

If you are looking for a loyal and playful companion who will happily join you on every adventure, meet Poppy! This beautiful 8-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie cross is hoping to find a peaceful home where she can enjoy life’s simple pleasures and be the centre of someone’s world.

Poppy is looking for a home as the only dog, though she is happy to have friendly doggy pals out and about on walks. She will need a home without cats and. Poppy travels well – she is used to hopping into her crate in the boot of the car and settles nicely once on the move. She would love to enjoy walks in areas away from busy main roads as she can be a little unsure around traffic.

Poppy could potentially live with calm and respectful children aged 8 and up who will give her space when she needs it. She could also cope with having visitors to the home, as long as they let her approach in her own time.

Could you be Poppy's perfect match?

Poppy is a sweet, affectionate girl with a playful side that shines brightest when her favourite toys come out! She especially loves chasing after a ball and would be over the moon to have someone who will join in with her games. Once playtime is over she is always happy to enjoy some fuss and company from her favourite people.

She walks beautifully on lead and would love to explore quieter walking spots where she can enjoy plenty of sniffing without any noisy traffic. Poppy can be a little sensitive to loud bangs and fireworks, so her new family will need to be ready to support her with this, helping her feel safe and secure when the world gets noisy.

Poppy is housetrained, knows her basic commands, and takes treats gently (especially if they involve peanut butter in a kong!). She is a bright, friendly girl who is sure to bring plenty of fun, loyalty and love into her new home.

Poppy has ongoing medical needs which the team will be happy to discuss further with potential adopters.

If you are looking for a clever, affectionate Collie cross who is as happy chasing a ball as she is snuggling up for a fuss, Poppy could be the perfect match for you.

Border Collie Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Border Collie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
