About This Dog for Adoption

Twix's ideal home

Twix is a handsome 7 year old Husky cross Collie. Twix came to us as a stray so unfortunately his history is limited, however, since arriving to us at West Calder he has stolen the hearts of the staff! He is a friendly boy who enjoys meeting new people, greeting them with a waggy tail and a smile! He sometimes likes to use his voice when saying hello to dogs but is friendly and keen to meet them. Twix is an independent boy and likes to go off and do his own thing after a polite hello with his doggy pals. He loves his walks and takes in all the sniffs! Twix would love a home with his own garden where he can learn key skills for living in a home. He can live with children aged 10 years old and above and would love to have someone at home with him throughout the day to settle him in and slowly build up leaving hours. He enjoys travelling in the car for new adventures and is an independent boy who is quite happy to keep himself occupied while you do the house work! Twix will be sure to make a great companion to a family looking for a handsome, friendly and fun dog to join their home!

AWE licence number 13090 by West Lothian Council.

Border Collie Puppy Buying Checklist

We highly recommend every buyer reads through the below advice when purchasing or rehoming a Border Collie.

  • View the animal in the place it was born and raised - check for genuine home environments if buying privately, or the quality of the breeders set-up if applicable.
  • If viewing a puppy under 8 weeks, by law they MUST be seen with their mum.
  • Make sure the animal's old enough to be rehomed. 8 weeks should be the earliest a puppy can be rehomed.
  • By law, all dogs MUST be microchipped
  • Review and verify any documents, such as KC registration paperwork where applicable

Avoid Potential Scams

There are a number of red flags to look out for when purchasing a new puppy:

  • Seller demands a deposit without allowing you to see the dog first - never send any money before meeting the animal in person
  • Seller is reluctant to send you additional photos or videos
  • Seller offers to deliver the dog/puppy
  • Seller asks to meet in a mutual location
  • Seller uses fake or stolen photos from the internet. Always carry out a "Google image search".
  • Seller asks to immediately switch to communication off the Border Collie Owners website
  • Seller uses a different phone number to the one listed on the website - especially if that phone number is in one of the advert images

Although we have a number of automated systems in place to prevent scam and fraudulant adverts, these can never be 100% accurate and its important to use caution when buying online. We do not accept any responsibility for transactions between our users, especially when our safe buying advice is not followed.
