About This Dog for Adoption

Oswald's ideal home

Oswald is a handsome seven-year-old Collie cross with a huge heart and gentle disposition. Being such a people-orientated pooch, he does find alone time challenging and is therefore seeking a multi-carer household, where there’s always someone around to keep him company. The youngest members of his family should be of secondary-school age. He dreams of living in a quiet and peaceful home, where he can enjoy leisurely days snoozing and relaxing after sniffing around on gentle walks. Oswald is reactive when seeing other dogs out and requires walks in less-frequented areas, at quieter times of the day. However, he is a very clever boy and has learnt an ‘engage and disengage’ technique to help him cope better when seeing dogs at a distance of around 30 metres. A secure garden of his own is essential so he can enjoy a good off-lead run, and a home with a driveway is needed if based in a busier area, to help avoid dog encounters at the start of walks. His adopters should be confident handling his occasional strength, as he can pull and spin if something catches his attention.

Could you be Oswald's perfect match?

While Oswald isn’t a fan of other animals, he makes up for it with the love he has for his humans. This affectionate boy adores spending time with his favourite people and will lean in for fuss and cuddles. He’s smart, food-motivated, and enjoys enrichment like kongs and licky mats. He knows cues such as ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘settle’, ‘paw’, and directional commands like ‘in’ and ‘out’, with plenty of potential to learn more. Oswald prefers to enjoy his meals undisturbed and, as he approaches his senior years, is happiest with gentle countryside strolls and a calm routine at home.
